Wayne Lucas, 71, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on January 30, 1949 to the late Ross Thomas and Waneta E. (Boase) Lucas. Wayne graduated from Staunton High School in 1968, and married Lana Dickerson on June 20, 1971. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil, and spent many years involved with the Boy Scouts, earning the designation of Eagle Scout. Wayne served his country in the United States Air Force, and later served Clay County as County Sheriff for 10 years, and another 15 years as a deputy. After retiring from law enforcement, he worked for Depauw University in Instructional Media Services
Wayne loved playing Santa Claus, for the local children. He and Lana enjoyed camping, going to casinos, and spending time with family.

Grandchildren: Kalyn (PJ Farris) Lucas, Kambree Lucas, Keira Lucas, Oakleigh Lucas, Axel Lucas

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
