William “Bill” Bell passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born on May 21, 1931 to the late Ray and Catherine Bell. Bill graduated from Brazil High School. After high school, he served in the Armed Forces and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. Bill worked at the Farm Bureau and went on to work at IBM for 32 years. He sold real estate for his brother, Herman, and 10 years selling brick in the Terre Haute area. After retiring, Bill was President of the Clay County Humane Society and retired after a few years due to his health. He continued helping for different events, earning money for the shelter. Bill’s hobbies included working cross word puzzles, enjoying the family pets, and feeding the birds.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Catherine Bell; brothers, Ray Bell, Jr., Herman Bell; sister, Mary Jane Timberman; and step-son, Paul Rossok. Survivors include his wife, Martha “Marty” Bell; children, Aaron Bell, Bambi (David) Meier; two step children, Connie (Dennis) Linhart, and Ron (Linda) Rossok; grandchildren, Cody Meier, Chad Meier, Brett Bell; several step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mildred Dierdorf, Ned Bell, and Warren (Sandy) Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Seth Amos officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. The family will accepts friends for visitation from 12 Noon until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to the Clay County Humane Society.
